Version: 1.0
Released: December 12, 2012

Supported Platforms: Windows Vista & 7 (32 & 64bit)
Requirements: Capturing video takes a lot of processing power. We recommend having at least a 2 GHz Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM.
Having trouble downloading videos from the Web? Want to make videos of your PC's screen? PCMag.com's latest utility, Video Stream Catcher, enables users to capture video from web sites like news and sports broadcasts, YouTube, and other streaming sources. You can even capture video of applications running on your screen.
You can capture an entire Window, a child window like a window within a window, or a region which you can adjust.
Simply specify what you want to capture, where you want to save it to, and in what format.
Then hit Record and Video Stream Catcher goes to work.

The program will capture video to the following formats and codec combinations:
MP4 — video codec: h264 / audio codec: Ogg Vorbis
WMV — video codec: WMV / audio codec: WMA
MKV — video codec: h264 / audio codec: Ogg Vorbis
Ogg — video codec: Ogg Theora / audio codec: Ogg Vorbis
WebM — video codec: Ogg Theora / audio codec: Ogg Vorbis

Note: Because of licensing issues, our MP4 container does not use AAC as the audio codec. So MP4 may not play back on some devices like the iPhone. If you want to view video on these devices you will need to specify an external device to transcode the video or convert it later with another program.
Additionally, Video Stream Catcher does not install codecs on your machine so some videos may not play on your PC. We recommend using VLC Media Player to view your recorded videos. It'll play most videos with no codec packs needing to be installed. You can download it for free.
